Superbe Gibson L-5CESN de 1974, en très bon état.
Un bel instrument fidèle à la lignée du modèle – après les années 20 et la période Lloyd Loar qui virent son introduction, la L-5 compte pour ce que Gibson a pu produire de plus raffiné et élaboré pendant des décennies, et cette guitare ne fait nullement exception à la règle. Depuis ses débuts en tant que Master Model des guitares Gibson, puis l’utilisation qu’en ont fait pléthore de guitaristes (citons notamment Wes Montgomery, jazzman dont le nom sera à jamais associé au modèle tant on l’aura vu photographié avec et entendu en jouer sur d’innombrables enregistrements), la L-5 est le modèle archtop par excellence.
Le présent instrument est sorti de la ligne de production au début des années 70, équipée de micros humbuckers estampillés « Patent No. » qui lui donnent sa place dans le paysage musical de l’époque – et pour cause, Gibson va grandement accroître sa production de modèles L-5 amplifiés au cours de la période Norlin pour répondre à une demande en hausse constante. Pour le reste, c’est une guitare conforme à ce que l’on attend : table massive en épicéa, fond et éclisses en érable, son cordier dans le style art-deco, incrustations en nacre sur la tête… Vérifiée, réglée et préparée par nos soins, prête au jeu. Dans un étui d’époque.

Stunning 1974 Gibson L-5CESN, in very good condition.
This instrument is true to its heritage – straight from the early 1920s and the Lloyd Load era, when it was first introduced as the top of the line Master Model guitar, the L-5 has since stood for the most refined and elaborate designs made by Gibson for decades to follow – the guitar we have here is certainly no exception. Probably most renowned for its use by plethora of artists – among which Wes Montgomery might be the most notable, and eternally associated to the L-5 model which he played on numerous records and live performances – this is the archtop guitar by excellence.
The present instrument came off the factory line in the early 70s, equipped with two « Patent No. » stamped humbucking pickups, which contributed to rocket an initially acoustic model into the electric era – as a matter of fact, Gibson greatly scaled up its electric L-5 as the Norlin era overcame the company, in response to ever increasing demand. For the rest, this is the L-5 as we know and love it: spruce carved top, maple back and sides, the iconic art-deco style tailpiece, fine pearl inlay on the headstock… Complete professional setup done at our workshop, ready to be played. Comes in a period-accurate hardshell case.
