FENDER STRATOCASTER 1964

Superbe Fender Stratocaster de 1964, en très bel état d’origine.

Aujourd’hui, la simple évocation d’une Stratocaster série L suffit à susciter l’attirance de tous les amateurs du modèle, aussi bien pour leur aspect nostalgique puisqu’il s’agit des toutes premières Fender à être directement importées en France au début des 60, que pour la place prépondérante qu’elles ont occupée dans une période qui verra le fabricant de Fullerton être racheté par le géant de l’audiovisuel CBS en janvier 1965, marquant la fin de la manufacture à petite échelle et le début progressif de la grande industrie.

Sur le modèle présenté, on retrouve tous les éléments marqueurs des Strats produites entre 1962 et 1964 : le logo spaghetti dans sa dernière forme avant qu’il ne soit remplacé par un logo de transition plus large à la fin 1964, les incrustations de touche de style clay dots, le pickguard en acétate de cellulose qui a tourné au vert comme c’est fréquemment le cas avant que Fender ne les remplacent par une plaque en ABS, les mécaniques Kluson Deluxe, une belle finition Sunburst 3-tons bien patinée sur la table de l’instrument mais comportant encore beaucoup de rouge sous le pickguard et au dos… Les trois micros simple bobinage grey bottom, le câblage en fil tissu ainsi que les potentiomètres datés à la bonne année et la capacité de tonalité sont entièrement d’origine, le manche est daté de septembre 1964. Voici donc un exemplaire pur d’une guitare mythique, entièrement réglée par nos soins pour tirer le meilleur de ses qualités sonores et en optimiser le confort de jeu.

Stunning 1964 Fender Stratocaster, in very good original condition.

Today, the mere mention of an L-series Stratocaster is enough to arouse the desires of all fans of this model, both for their nostalgic aspect since they are the very first Fender guitars to be directly imported into France in the early ’60s, and for their prominence in a period that would see the Fullerton-based manufacturer be taken over by broadcast-giant CBS in January of 1965, marking the end of small-scale manufacturing and the gradual start of a large-scale industry.

On the present guitar, we find all the elements of the Strats produced between 1962 and 1964: the spaghetti logo in its final version before it was replaced by a larger transition logo at the end of 1964, the clay dot fingerboard inlays, the cellulose pickguard that took on a greenish hue as was frequently the case before Fender replaced them with an ABS pickguard, Kluson Deluxe tuners, a beautiful 3-tone Sunburst finish, well aged on the top of the instrument but with still plenty of red under the pickguard and on the back… The three gray bottom single coil pickups, the cloth-covered wiring as well as the potentiometers dated to the correct year and the tone capacitor are completely original, the neck is dated to September 1964. Here is a well-preserved example of this mythical guitar, which has undergone a thorough professional setup in our workshop in order to get the best of its sound quality and optimize its playing comfort.
