Gibson ES-125 de 1957, en très bon état d’origine.

Un bel exemplaire de la fin des années 1950, ce modèle électrique hollow-body fut longtemps un filon sûr pour Gibson, qui en produisit en quantité depuis les années 40 jusqu’à la fin des années 60. Le modèle dispose d’un corps avec une largeur de 16 pouces sans pan coupé en érable plaqué, avec un manche en acajou et une touche en palissandre. Un seul micro P-90 avec son capot dog-ear noir vient équiper la guitare en position manche, avec contrôles de tonalité et de volume.

Bien qu’à l’origine commercialisé principalement comme modèle d’étude, l’ES-125 est un instrument de qualité professionnelle et n’a rien a envier au modèles dits « haut de gamme » tant en termes de qualité de fabrication que de sonorité. La 125 fut un franc succès dès son introduction, et est souvent vue sur des photographies d’époque entre les mains de joueurs de nombreux styles – c’est d’ailleurs toujours un modèle plébiscité de nos jours, une véritable icône des années 50 sans prétention. 2345 exemplaires ont quitté la ligne de production de Kalamazoo en 1957 (un peu en baisse par rapport au début de la décennie), et le modèle présenté nous parvient aujourd’hui en superbe état de conservation et d’origine. Sa finition Sunburst n’a quasiment pas perdu de son éclat, et présente une belle patine. Toutes les parties principales de la guitare, y compris son chevalet en palissandre, sa plaque, et son électronique sont également d’origine. Entièrement préparé et réglé par nos soins, l’action est basse et le jeu parfaitement confortable.

Gibson ES-125 from 1957, in very good original condition.

A fine example from the late 1950s, this hollow-body electric model was a long-time bread-and-butter model for Gibson, who produced them in quantity from the 1940s through to the late 1960s. The model features a 16 inch-wide, no-cutaway, maple laminate body, with a mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard. A single P-90 pickup with its black dog-ear cover is set up on the guitar in the neck position, long with tone and volume controls.

Although originally marketed mainly as a student model, the ES-125 is without doubt a professional grade instrument and has nothing to envy to the so-called « high-end » models, both in terms of manufacturing quality and sound. The 125 was a big hit from the moment it was introduced, and is often seen in vintage photographs in the hands of players of many styles – it’s still a popular model today, a true, unpretentious icon of the 1950s. 2,345 examples left the Kalamazoo production line in 1957 (slightly down from the beginning of the decade), and the present model reaches us today in superbly preserved and original condition. Its Sunburst finish has hardly lost its shine, and has a beautiful patina. All main parts of the guitar, including its rosewood bridge, pickguard, and electronics are also stock. Complete professional setup done in our workshop, the action is low and the playing perfectly comfortable.
