GIBSON ES-335TDC FACTORY BIGSBY 1965

Gibson ES-335TDC de 1965, en superbe état d’origine, équipée de son factory Bigsby.

Sortie des ateliers de Kalamazoo en 1965, cette splendide guitare condense tout ce que l’on attend et que l’on apprécie d’une ES-335 de la moitié des années 60… avec un petit bonus. La finition Cherry, qui supplante le sunburst comme finition la plus commune sur les 335 au début des années 60, est parfaitement préservée avec un très léger faïençage, la touche en palissandre est décorée des incrustations block introduites courant 1962 en remplacement des dots, le manche présente un profil et une largeur au sillet de tête encore confortables, avant l’infortuné rétrécissement des manches qui s’opère sur la majorité des Gibsons dans la seconde moitié des années 60.

La guitare est équipée de ses deux micros humbucker Patent No. et de son électronique et câblage d’origine. Sans surprise, le son produit par cet assemblage est envoûtant, et l’on retrouve à la fois la rondeur du micro manche et le claquant du micro chevalet, les deux offrant une définition nette qui caractérise les humbuckers des années 60. Pour couronner le tout, le modèle présenté est monté avec un vibrato Bigsby, option offerte directement à l’usine par Gibson et venant équiper nombre de leurs guitares produites dans la période – beaucoup de musiciens réclamaient cet accessoire, nécessaire pour jouer la plupart de hits à l’époque !

Expertisée, préparée et réglée par nos soins, la guitare est en parfait état de jeu. Elle est vendue dans son étui Gibson d’origine, et accompagnée de ses tags (notice pour l’ajustement des micros et garantie originale Gibson).

Gibson ES-335TDC from 1965, in superb original condition, equipped with its factory Bigsby tailpiece.

Released from the Kalamazoo workshops in 1965, this splendid guitar compiles everything one expects and appreciates from a mid-60s ES-335… with a little bonus. The Cherry finish, which overtook sunburst as the most common finish on 335s in the early 1960s, is perfectly preserved with very fine crackling, the rosewood fingerboard is decorated with the block inlays introduced during 1962 as a replacement of the dot inlays, the neck presents a profile and width at the nut which were still comfortable, before the unfortunate narrowing of the necks which took place on the majority of Gibsons in the second half of the 60s.

The guitar is equipped with its two untouched Patent No. humbucking pickups and its original electronics and wiring. Unsurprisingly, the sound produced by this assembly is stunning, and we find both the roundness of the neck pickup and the snap of the bridge pickup, both offering a clean definition that characterizes the humbuckers of the 60s. The present model is mounted with a Bigsby vibrato, an option offered directly from the factory by Gibson which equipped many of their guitars produced in the period – many musicians requested this accessory, necessary to play all the biggest hits of the day!

Thoroughly checked and set up in our workshop, the guitar is in perfect playing condition. It comes in its original Gibson hardshell case, along with its original tags (instructions for adjusting the pickups and original Gibson warranty).
