Martin 0-15 de 1949, en très bon état de jeu et de conservation.

Introduit en 1935, ce modèle d’une simplicité absolue est à l’image de l’époque qui a vu sa création, à savoir la crise financière profonde qui frappe les États-Unis de plein fouet suite au krach boursier de 1929. Martin, n’étant pas exempt de la tourmente affectant le reste de la société américaine, a été contraint dans une certaine mesure d’adapter ses logiques de production aux circonstances, et le style 15 est le fruit de cette reflexion. La construction de l’instrument intégralement en acajou, l’absence de filets ou d’incrustations, un vernis extrêmement fin en font une guitare parfaitement adaptée aux conditions économiques de la période. Pour autant, sa lutherie n’en reste pas moins d’une grande finesse – il est en tout cas certain que ce n’est ni dans le choix des bois, ni dans le soin apporté à la construction que Martin a appliqué sa réduction des coûts.

Dans la période d’après-guerre, la Martin 0-15 est toujours l’instrument le plus économique du fabricant, et en 1949 on pouvait se l’offrir pour la modique somme de 45$. 750 exemplaires ont été produits cette même année, un chiffre en hausse constante qui témoigne du succès que rencontre le modèle. La présente guitare est en très bel état, malgré quelques traces d’usure et les mécaniques qui ont été remplacées. Elle est très légère et confortable au jeu de par son petit format, et offre une belle projection et timbre chaleureux. Préparée et réglée par nos soins, prête au jeu.

First introduced in 1935, this highly stripped down model perfectly reflect the period that saw its introduction – following the 1929 Wall Street stock market crash, the United States faced a decade-long economic recession affecting every aspect of society and life, and as a musical instrument maker, Martin was certainly not spared from the impact of the Great Depression. As such, they had to adapt their production line to these new conditions, and the style 15 was their response; choosing to use an all-mahogany body construction, no binding or inlays and very minimal semi-gloss finish allowed Martin to greatly cut down on building expenses, although they certainly spared none when it comes to high-grade wood choice and care in the woodwork they applied to the 0-15, which was still to live up to Martin’s good name and high standards after all.

After the Second World War, the 0-15 was still the most economical guitar offered by Martin, and in 1949 one could purchase it for only $45. For that same year, 750 instruments were built in this model, and this number would keep increasing in following years as the guitar seemingly garnered plenty of interest from musicians. The present instrument is in great condition, despite a few scuffs and non-original tuners. It is extremely lightweight and comfortable to play due to its small size, offers a lovely, warm tone and projects amazingly. Complete professional setup done in our workshop, ready to play.
