Martin D-18 de 1950, en très bon état.
Ce beau modèle en épicéa et acajou est emblématique du style dreadnought qui a fait le succès de Martin auprès de nombreux artistes, aux côtés de la D-28, son pendant au fond et éclisses en palissandre. La D-18 apparaît au catalogue pour la première fois en 1934, et prend la suite du modèle D-1, créé par Martin en 1931 alors qu’ils cherchaient à définir la forme exacte que prendraient leurs dreadnoughts de série. Notons que le format avait déjà été expérimenté lors de la collaboration entre Martin et la Oliver Ditson Company, un vendeur de partitions et d’instruments de musique établi à Boston et New York pour qui Martin produit à partir de 1916 trois modèles : une taille 1, une taille 00 et un format dreadnought. La collaboration prendra fin vers 1930, et Martin lancera alors sa propre production.
Depuis lors et jusqu’à nos jours, la D-18 demeure ainsi l’un des instruments les plus populaires de Martin, et le présent instrument ne fait nullement exception à la règle : une belle fourniture en bois, une superbe sonorité… bien que vieux de plus de 70 ans, il a encore sous le pied pour de nombreuses heures musicales à l’avenir. Réglé et préparé par nos soin, en parfait état de jeu.

This nice model made from spruce and mahogany is alongside the D-28, its rosewood counterpart, the flagship of Martin’s dreadnought guitars. First appearing in the company catalog in 1934, the D-18 is the result of Martin’s experimentations with the D-1 model, created in 1931 as Martin was figuring out what shape to give their line of dreadnoughts. It should be noted that the format actually dates back to 1916, when Martin launched its association with the Oliver Ditson Company (a music publisher and instrument retailer based in Boston and New York), through which Martin built 3 models – a size 1, a size 00 and a dreadnought size. The collaboration would come to an end around 1930, but Martin would on to make its own line of D sized guitars.
Ever since then and up until this very day, the D-18 has been one of the company’s most successful models, and the present instruments is certainly no exception: a beautiful selection of woods, a rich and deep tone… despite being over 70 years old, this guitar still has a lot left to give. Complete professional setup done at our workshop, in perfect playing condition.
