1957 GIBSON ES-225TD

A 1957 Gibson ES-225TD, in exceptional condition.

It is unusual to find an instrument of this vintage in such great condition, and yet here is a stunning late-50s 225TD.
Produced from 1956 to 1959, this model is the 2-pickup counterpart of the 225T which, according to the Gibson catalogue at the time, was intended as a professional-grade instrument in the popular pricing field, combining the tonal characteristics of a solidbody instrument with the lightness and comfort of of a “conventional” guitar (sic, meaning archtop guitar). The 225TD stands out with its Florentine-style single cutaway and the combine bridge/tailpiece which was previously found on the very first Les Pauls of the early 50s. It comes equipped with two P-90 single coil pickups which have incredible definition and output level, capable of driving even the tamest of amplifiers. All in all, a true rock’n’roll guitar, maybe even a quintessential one?
